This commitment amounts to close on R100 000 every month!
We undertake, to the extent that we have funds, to support our pensioners for the remainder of their natural lives.
We estimate that will require a further R20 million over the next 20 years (more pensioners are added and others depart). We cant let them down and it is a major challenge to ensure that we keep in funds for this commitment.
Medical Procedure Fund
Increasingly we fund major operations for our pensioners and for qualifying Zimbabweans living both in SA and Zimbabwe.
Recently we have funded two heart surgeries, a fistular placement and a cataract treatment. They come without warning and we just have to find the funds.
The need is greater than we can manage. Help us build a reserve fund.
Special Projects
We regularly fund major capital projects. Todays priority is- Zimbabwe old age homes.
Many elderly Zimbabweans live in under-funded, run-down, ill equipment homes (no water and electricity)
The Trust provides solar power and borehole water. Mdala has donated R1 million to date and the target is R5 million.
Old Legs Tour
OLT and Mdala have partnered on a number of projects to help elderly folk in Zimbabwe.
OLT’s current project is the Marathon Medical Fund which aims to fund major orthopaedic joint replacements for 24 elderly Zimbabweans.
